The only solutions I could come up with were: When called on X11, it determines whether to enable antialiasing and caches that decision so that changing "awt.useSystemAAFontSettings" does not enable antialiasing. Unfortunately, solution didn't work because of an unexpected side effect of getDesktopProperty. Identification: JOSM/1.5 (17798 SVN de) Windows 10 64-Bit I tried r17796 from and it looked normal, r17798 from shows the problem. the text in the popup that displays the startup progress looks worse, somehow unsteady. See ticket:20771#comment:7 and following. I think this caused a regression on Windows 10.
